Where can the different Neptune™ Outdoor TV Series be installed?
☀ Full Sun: TV can be installed anywhere as this line is designed to operate in sustained sunshine. Sunlight is not a factor when determining the proper installation location. Ideal for East/West-facing installations.
⛅ Partial Sun: TV can be installed virtually anywhere that does not allow direct sunlight to beat down on the LCD for the entire day. With the Partial Sun TV, occasional sun on the display is perfectly fine. The TV should be installed in an area that promotes shade and has objects that would normally cast shadows for portions of the day, such as under an overhang, gazebo or pergola. Ideal for North/South-facing installations.
☁ Shade: TV can be installed virtually anywhere that does not allow direct sunlight to beat down on the LCD. Proper locations would be inside screened porches, covered patios, or under an eave with enough shade to protect the LCD from direct sunlight throughout the entire day. Although engineered for outdoor usage, the Shade TV screen is not meant for direct sunlight placement.
Can I install the Neptune™ Outdoor TV by myself, or do I need to hire an AV Installer?
The TV is no more difficult to install than an indoor TV, however the weight of outdoor TVs tends to be more substantial. This is due to the overall frame structure (usually metal for outdoor TVs). Due to the increased weight, it is recommended to always use a minimum of 2 individuals when lifting the TV.
Note: Verify that there is electric service where you plan to place the TV. If there is not, always consult a certified/qualified electrician who understands how to install outlets correctly for an outdoor environment.
What type of surface can the Neptune™ Outdoor TV be installed on?
The TV can be installed on most surfaces with a stud structure. If studs are further apart than 16", then installing wood blocking into that stud-space is essential. You do not want to mount an outdoor TV using toggle bolts. You must consider the weight of the TV, as well as the anchors used when not mounting into wood, for all four lag bolts. If mounting on a brick or cement block surface, never mount into grout lines, and take care in using the supplied cement block anchors.
At what height should the Neptune™ Outdoor TV be installed at?
For indoor TVs, depending on the room, you would normally mount at or around eye level when in a seated position. The outdoor environment is a different beast. If you are entertaining and have activities near the TV, your viewers likely aren’t constantly sitting down. There is no technically “perfect” height, as this comes down to personal tastes, but you generally want to mount closer to average eye level height when standing up. This will help accommodate more than just those right in front of the TV.
What is IncreLok™ tilt, and how is it used on the included Outdoor Tilting TV Wall Mount?
IncreLok™ tilt refers to the series of holes on the side of each adaptor bracket. Always make sure the screws on the sides of the adaptors are facing outward toward the edges of the TV so adjustments can be made if you want to change the tilt angle of the TV. IncreLok tilt is a patented feature that locks the display angle at -5°, 0°, 5°, 10° or 15°. When the screw is properly inserted at the desired angle, this feature helps keep the TV locked at the proper angle and prevents unintentional movement. Never try to adjust the tilt angle while the TV is mounted.
How often should my installation be inspected to ensure it is safe?
Outdoor TV installations should be checked yearly or after any gusty conditions arise to ensure there is no separation of the wall plate from the mounting substrate or damage to steel components and hardware. If there is severe inclement weather on the forecast, such as hurricane force winds, tornadoes or hail storms, you may want to temporarily remove your TV from the wall plate to prevent debris from damaging the TV.
How do I get content to play on the Neptune™ Outdoor TV?
The TV accepts standard digital and analog cabling (HDMI, CVBS+Audio). If using digital cables, make sure you do not exceed 45'. If distances are longer than that, the installer may want to consider an HDMI extender that will supply up to 4K content. The extenders utilize coax or category cabling as their infrastructure. Both coax and category cable have a much longer length before any type of cliff-effect is realized.
How to get a wireless signal to my SMART TV Location?
The best way to investigate Wi-Fi connectivity is to walk the perimeter where the TV will be installed and take note of connectivity strength with a mobile device, such as a phone connected to the Wi-Fi network. Once you have pinpointed a location you believe will work, turn the outdoor TV on at that location, connect to the Wi-Fi network, and test an app on the TV. If the app fails to connect, or streaming quality is poor, you may need to boost the Wi-Fi signal in the outdoor space.
How can I extend WiFi signal to have better connectivity to the SMART TV or device in the I/O pocket?
There are many Wi-Fi extenders on the market. There are both indoor and outdoor usage options. If you can bring the extender to the exterior of the structure that the device is being mounted to, that is the best option. If your only option is an indoor extender, you will want to bring that as close to the TV’s location as possible.
How can I control the source that I have now connected to my Neptune™ Outdoor TV?
Full Sun & Partial Sun: By using the IR Repeater port, you can direct IR commands by pointing at the front of the TV with the 3rd party proprietary remote control. The IR sensor on the front of the TV will pass the IR commands through the IR Repeater port to the front of the device being controlled, utilizing the supplied IR emitter. The IR Repeater cable is 9' in length and can be extended through a standard multi-wire cable that supports at least two leads. The cable can be spliced and lengthened to reach source equipment that is not local to the installed outdoor TV location.
